# Adjust your camera frame

> Reposition your camera feed and crop your camera in Tella's editor to frame yourself exactly how you want.

## Reframe your camera in Tella

Camera framing lets you change which part of your camera recording stays centered inside layouts. Use it when you were off-center while recording or when a layout crops the camera more tightly than you want.

## How to adjust your camera frame in Tella

1. Open your video and click **Adjust** in the sidebar, or press `A`.
2. Find **Camera frame**.
3. Drag the focus point in the preview to choose which part of the camera recording stays centered.
4. Preview the clip in different layouts and fine-tune the point as needed.

Click **Apply to all clips** when you want to copy the current camera framing and crop to matching camera recordings elsewhere in the video.

## Crop your camera

Beyond repositioning, you can **crop** your camera feed to trim away the parts you don't want — the same way you crop screen recordings. This is useful for tightening the shot around your face or removing distracting background at the edges.

1. **Open the Adjust panel**

   * Select your clip, then click **Adjust** in the sidebar. In the **Camera frame** section, click the **Crop** button.

2. **Set your crop**

   * Drag and resize the crop frame over the part of the camera you want to keep.

   * Choose a preset aspect ratio (like 16:9 or 1:1), or select **Custom** to crop freely.

   * Type in exact pixel values for position and size when you need precision.

3. **Set the focus point**

   * Drag the focus point inside the crop selection to control which part of the cropped frame stays centered in your layouts.

<Tip>What's inside the crop frame is what shows inside each layout — cropping only changes what appears within the camera shape, so bubble and rounded camera styles keep their shape.</Tip>

### Apply your crop to other layouts and clips

If your clip uses multiple layouts, or your video has several clips, you don't need to crop each one by hand:

* **All layouts in this clip** applies the crop to every layout in the current clip.

* **All layouts in all clips** copies the crop — and its focus point — to every clip's camera across your whole video.

You can also use **Apply to all clips** in the Camera frame section to push the current camera crop and focus point to the other clips.

<Note>Cropping the camera doesn't touch your recording — you can click Reset at any time to return to the full camera frame.</Note>

## Best practices for camera framing

While the Camera Framing feature is easy to use, keeping a few best practices in mind will help you achieve the best results:

* **Aim for centering**: In most cases, it’s best to position yourself close to the center of the frame. This ensures that your viewers’ attention is focused on you, making your presentation more engaging.

* **Consider the layout**: Different layouts place varying emphasis on the camera or screen. If your camera feed is small or off to the side in the layout, slight framing adjustments can still make a big difference.

* **Reframe for focus**: Use the framing tool to direct attention where it’s most needed. For example, if your layout is focused primarily on a screen recording, you can frame your camera feed to be more subtle or move yourself out of the center if the content requires it.
