<Note>This video was recorded in an older version of the editor, where borders had their own **Border** button in the toolbar. Border controls are now part of the **Style** sidebar, together with backgrounds and your logo. Follow the updated steps below.</Note>

## Using borders in Tella to enhance your videos

Borders are a fun way to add a little more style and personality to your videos. They allow you to put an attractive outline around your screen recording or camera recording, making your content stand out.

### Accessing the borders feature

1. **Open your video** in the Tella editor.

2. Click **Style** in the toolbar (or press **B**).

3. Click the **Border style** row to open the border options. You can also press **O** to jump straight to it (as long as you're not typing in a text field).

### Customizing border style and shape

In the **Border style** panel, you'll see two sets of options:

**Style**

* **None**: Removes any border or shadow styling from your video.

* **Subtle shadow**: Adds a soft shadow, making your video pop against the background.

* **Deep shadow**: A stronger version of the shadow effect.

* **Transparent**: Introduces a semi-transparent border for subtle separation.

* **Solid shadow** and **Solid shadow left**: Draw a solid black border around your video with a bold, offset black shadow, for a cartoonish look. Pick these if you want a black border.

**Shape**

* **Square**: Offers a more defined appearance with hard angles.

* **Rounded**: Provides a softer look with rounded edges.

* **Circle**: The most rounded option.

You can mix and match different styles and shapes to achieve the desired effect.

<Note>Tella remembers the last shape you selected and applies it to new layouts, including layouts that ask you to choose Media first.</Note>

## Applying borders to multiple clips

By default, the border settings apply only to the clip you're currently editing. To apply the same border style to all clips in your video:

1. Customize your border as desired.

2. Click **Apply to all clips** at the bottom of the Border style panel.

## Tips and best practices

* **Experiment**: Try different combinations of shapes and styles to find what best suits your video's theme.

* **Consistency**: Use the **Apply to all clips** feature to maintain a uniform look throughout your video.

* **Enhance visual appeal**: Borders can help highlight important content and make your video more engaging.

By utilizing the border styles in Tella, you can add a unique touch to your videos, making them more visually appealing and personalized.
