# Punch in (zoom in) on your camera

> How to add a punch in, or camera zoom, in Tella to add emphasis to what you are saying.

## Add a camera punch-in

A punch-in makes your camera fill more of the frame for a moment, adding emphasis without changing the recording itself. In Tella, this is a **Layout** option rather than the separate Zoom tool, which focuses on screen content.

1. Open your video and click **Layout**.
2. Drag across the moment you want to emphasize. You can also select the matching words in the transcript row.
3. Choose the full-frame camera layout:
   * For a screen-and-camera recording, find it under **Camera-only**.
   * For a camera-only recording, choose the full-frame camera preset.
4. In the layout's inline controls, enable **Punch-in**.
5. Play the section to preview the effect.

Tella creates a layout card for the selected range. Drag the card to move the punch-in, or drag either edge to adjust when it starts and ends.

## Change how the punch-in transitions

1. Select the punch-in card and open **Customize layout**.
2. Under **Animations**, set **Intro** and **Outro** to **Smooth** or **Hard cut**.

Intro is unavailable if the punch-in is the first layout, and Outro is unavailable if it is the last.

Use **Smooth** for a gradual camera move or **Hard cut** for an immediate change.

  Select the words you want to emphasize before choosing the layout. The card will snap to those word boundaries, which makes spoken punchlines easy to time.
