The command menu is a searchable list of actions (navigation, tools, playback, recording, appearance, and more) that you open with Cmd+K in the editor, your library, settings, and video pages, so you can run an action without hunting through menus.

Open the command menu

  • Press Cmd+K (macOS) or Ctrl+K (Windows).
  • Or click the ? help button and choose Command menu.
A search box opens in the middle of the screen. Start typing to filter actions by name or related keyword.
  • Use the arrow keys to move up and down the list.
  • Press Enter to run the highlighted action.
  • Press Esc to close the menu without running anything.

What can I do from the command menu?

Actions are grouped by category:
  • Navigation: jump to other parts of Tella, like analytics, or open an editor tool.
  • General: switch between light and dark mode, or choose Use system appearance to follow your device’s theme.
  • Recording: start a recording or change the recording setup.
  • Playback: play, pause, and seek.
  • Trimming, Audio, Transcript, Layout, Adjust, Zoom, Overlay: each editor tool has its own group with the actions available in it.
The list depends on what’s available in your current context. For example, Remove selected zoom only appears when a zoom is selected.

Find an action without its exact name

The search looks at keywords too, so you don’t need to remember the exact label. Type zoom, cut, dark, system, or analytics and the right action floats to the top. Use system appearance only appears when Light or Dark is selected. It hides after your appearance is set to System.

Find a keyboard shortcut

Every action that has a keyboard shortcut shows it next to the action in the menu. See the full list in Keyboard shortcuts.
