Embed a video in an email
- Open your video in the editor.
- Click Share in the top right, then click Email.
-
Choose an embed type:
- Animated — an animated GIF preview of your video. Works in all email clients.
- Static — a still image preview. Works in all email clients.
- Video — an HTML5 video that plays inline. Works in Apple Mail, iOS Mail, and Superhuman. Other email clients show a clickable thumbnail that links to the video.
-
Customize the embed (see options below), then copy it:
- Copy content — copies the rendered preview so you can paste it straight into your email compose window (Gmail, Outlook, and most other clients). Available for Animated and Static embeds.
- Copy code — copies the raw HTML snippet, for email tools that accept HTML directly.
- Paste into your email and send.
Customize your embed
- Frame start-time — for Animated embeds and Static embeds without a custom thumbnail, choose the second of the video the preview starts from, so the thumbnail shows the right moment.
- Show play button — for Animated embeds and Static embeds without a custom thumbnail, overlay a play button on the thumbnail to make it obvious the image is a video.
- Message — add an optional text message above the video in the email.
- Link text — change the text of the link below the video (defaults to “Watch on Tella.tv”).
Requirements for the Video embed type
The Video option requires that your video has been exported at least once. If no export is available, you will see a message prompting you to export first.
Which embed type should I use?
- Sending to a broad audience or a mailing list? Use Animated — it grabs attention and works everywhere.
- Want a clean, lightweight email? Use Static.
- Know your recipient uses Apple Mail or Superhuman? Use Video for inline playback without leaving the inbox.
