Workspace owners and members set up webhooks in Settings → Webhooks, under Other. A webhook pushes a message to a URL you control the moment something happens in Tella: a video is created, an export is ready, a viewer watches. Use them when you want your own system to react to Tella without polling the API. To open the page, click your workspace name in the top-left corner, go to Settings, then Webhooks.
Webhooks are available to workspace owners and members. Viewers do not see this page. If the page shows “Webhooks are not available for your account,” the webhook portal couldn’t load for your workspace; email support@tella.com.

Add an endpoint

  1. Go to Settings → Webhooks.
  2. Add a new endpoint.
  3. Paste the URL that should receive the events. It must be a publicly reachable HTTPS URL. A service running only on your laptop will not receive anything unless you expose it with a tunnel.
  4. Choose which events to subscribe to. Subscribe only to what you actually handle; every extra event is a request your endpoint has to answer.
  5. Save the endpoint.

Which webhook events does Tella send?

For the exact payload each event sends, see the webhooks reference in the developer documentation.

Test and debug a webhook

The webhooks page is a full management portal, not just a list. From it you can:
  • Send a test event to confirm your endpoint is reachable before you rely on it.
  • See delivery attempts for every message, including the response your endpoint returned.
  • Replay a failed message once you have fixed the problem on your side, instead of waiting for the event to happen again.
If deliveries are failing, check the attempt log first. It usually shows the exact status code and body your endpoint returned.

Verify webhook signatures

Each message is signed, so you can confirm it came from Tella and was not forged by someone who guessed your URL. Verify the signature before acting on a payload. The signing secret and verification steps are in the webhooks reference.
