Uploaded clips can be edited, shared, and exported like clips you record in Tella, so you can combine existing footage with new recordings.
Upload a video from your library
- In the sidebar of your library, click Upload (next to Record).
- Drag and drop a video file onto the page, or click Select file to choose one from your computer.
- Tella uploads the file, and it’s ready for editing once processing finishes.
Upload a clip while editing
- Click the Add clip button at the bottom of the timeline.
- Select Upload a clip from the dropdown menu.
- Drag and drop a video file into the upload dialog, or click Select file to choose one from your computer.
Which video formats can I upload?
Tella supports common video formats such as MP4, MOV, and WebM, including 10-bit HEVC videos recorded on Apple devices. Tella preserves the intended orientation of phone videos, including portrait recordings stored with rotation metadata. Can I close the tab while a video uploads?
No. Keep the browser tab open until the upload finishes. If you try to reload or close it during the transfer, your browser asks you to confirm leaving. Choose to stay: an upload interrupted by leaving the page cannot resume, so you would need to select the file and upload it again. You can still move between pages within Tella while the upload runs. On a slow connection, progress may pause while Tella retries a timed-out part, then continue without you restarting the upload.Upload limits
- Paid plan required. Uploading videos from your computer isn’t available during a free trial; the upload page shows Upgrade instead of Select file.
- 5 GB per file. Videos larger than 5 GB need to be compressed first.
- Layouts. For uploaded clips, 2 layout options are available. To use other layouts, record your screen and camera directly in Tella, which is required to combine both video files into one layout.
