Using playback speed controls to review and edit your videos more efficiently. The playback speed feature in Tella allows you to slow down or speed up your video while editing. This makes it easier to review your footage, find precise editing points, and work more efficiently. This guide will show you how to use the playback speed controls in the editor.

Accessing playback speed controls

  1. Open your video in the Tella editor.
  2. Look for the playback speed indicator (displayed as “1x” by default) in the video player controls.
  3. Click on the playback speed button to reveal the available speed options.

You can choose from the following playback speeds to suit your editing needs:
  • 0.8x
  • 0.9x
  • 1.0x (default)
  • 1.1x
  • 1.2x
  • 1.5x
  • 1.8x
  • 2.0x
  • 3.0x
  • 5.0x
  • 8.0x

Tips for using playback speed

Combine with the timeline: Use playback speed alongside the timeline zoom controls for maximum precision. Slow down playback and zoom in on the timeline to make frame-perfect edits. Switch speeds as needed: You can change the playback speed at any time during editing. There’s no need to stick with one speed - adjust it based on what you’re working on. Audio playback: The audio will also adjust to match the selected playback speed, making it easier to hear pauses, filler words, and other audio cues.

Note

The playback speed setting only affects how you view the video in the editor. It doesn’t change the speed of your exported video. Your final video will always play at normal speed (1x) unless you adjust the default viewer playback speed. If you want to export your video at a faster/slower speed, you will need to do that outside of Tella.
