Your recording is in My videos of the workspace you recorded in, as soon as its upload finishes. If it is not there, one of the checks below finds it almost every time. Whatever you do, don’t delete anything or clear app or browser data while you look: that is the one thing that can make a recording unrecoverable.

Is it in a different workspace?

Videos live in the workspace that was active when you recorded. Click your workspace name in the top left. If you belong to more than one workspace (a personal one and a team one, for example), switch between them and check My videos in each. A video recorded into a team workspace does not show up in your personal one, and the reverse.
If you log in with Google in one place and email/password in another, those may be two different accounts. Try the other login method.

Is it in the Trash?

Deleted videos sit in the Trash for 30 days before they are removed for good. Open the Trash from the sidebar and restore the video from there. See How can I recover a deleted video?

Did the upload finish?

Tella uploads while you record, but the upload only makes progress while the recorder that made it stays open:
  • Mac / Windows app: keep the app running until the video finishes uploading. Quitting pauses the upload, and reopening resumes it. On Mac, Help → Upload Activity… (⌘U) shows every upload still in progress.
  • Web app: don’t close the recording tab or the browser until the upload completes.
  • Chrome extension: uploads continue from the extension, so you can close the tab, but keep Chrome running.
If you closed the app or tab right after recording, reopen it and give the upload time to finish. A percentage that stops moving means the upload has stalled, not that the recording is lost. See Why is my video taking so long to upload?

Did the recording stop early or show an error?

If the recorder crashed, the app or tab closed mid-recording, the network dropped, or you saw an error when the recording ended, the video never finished saving. It is not in your library and not in the Trash either, but it can usually still be recovered from the data on your device. Don’t delete it, don’t clear site data, and keep the desktop app installed, then follow Recover a cancelled or errored recording. A recording that is shorter than what you recorded usually means your disk filled up. The Mac and Windows apps stop the recording safely when free disk space drops below 256 MB and keep the part recorded before it stopped. See the Mac and Windows low disk space guides.

The video is there, but shows Loading or plays blank

When the upload reaches 100% the video may still need a few minutes to process before it plays or opens in the editor. If it stays that way, or plays black, see Recorded video won’t play, plays black, or My videos won’t load.

Still missing?

If none of the above turns it up (especially if you have a share link that works but the video isn’t in your library), contact support via the in-app chat or support@tella.com. Include:
  • The approximate date and time of the recording
  • Which recorder you used (web, Chrome extension, Mac app, Windows app)
  • A share link to the video, if you have one
Recordings can often be recovered on our end even when they never appeared in your library. The sooner you reach out, the better the odds.
