Add names, brands, and technical terms to your Dictionary so Tella transcribes them correctly. Open it from the Script panel’s More actions menu, or from Settings → Language → Transcription dictionary. It works for English, Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, and Italian transcripts.

Add words to your dictionary

  1. Open your video in the editor, open the Script panel, then choose More actions > Dictionary. The dictionary icon also appears in the Subtitles panel. You can also manage your dictionary anytime from Settings > Language, under Transcription dictionary.
  2. Type the word or term in the Add new word field. Use the exact spelling and capitalization.
  3. Press Enter or click Add to save it to your dictionary.
  4. Repeat for any additional terms you want to include
  5. Click Update transcript to retranscribe the current video with your dictionary.
Once you’ve added terms to your dictionary, all future videos will automatically reference these entries during transcription. You don’t need to add them again.

Which languages does the dictionary support?

The dictionary works with transcriptions in English, Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, and Italian. If your transcript is in another language, Tella shows a Switch language… menu inside the dictionary. Picking a supported language updates your default transcript language and retranscribes the video automatically. Once the retranscription finishes, the word list appears and you can manage your dictionary as usual.

Does the dictionary update existing videos?

No, not automatically. New words apply to videos you record afterward. To apply your dictionary to an existing video, open that video’s dictionary and click Update transcript.
