Tella runs in a recent web browser on a Mac or Windows 10+ computer with an upload speed of at least 2.5–5 Mbps. The Mac app needs macOS 13.1 or later and the Windows app needs Windows 10 version 2004 or later.
What internet speed do I need?
The minimum upload speed for reliable use of Tella is between 2.5 and 5 Mbps. If you don’t know what your internet connection’s upload speed is, test it here.
Which browsers does Tella support?
Tella works for recording and watching in current versions of these browsers. The editor needs newer versions; see What do I need to use the editor?

Note: the list of supported browsers may change as we improve Tella and upgrade to the latest libraries. When browsers no longer support these newer versions, Tella unfortunately cannot either.
If you have any questions about this, don’t hesitate to reach out to our team.
What do I need to use the editor?
The editor draws your video with your computer’s graphics processor through WebGPU, so it needs a newer browser than recording and watching do:
- The latest Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Brave or Opera on Windows or Mac, or Chrome on ChromeOS
- Safari 26 or later on Mac
- The latest Firefox on Windows or Mac
- Chrome or Brave on Linux, with extra steps on some GPUs
Hardware (graphics) acceleration must be turned on in your browser, and the editor does not run in virtual machines or remote desktop sessions. If the editor shows an error instead of your video, see Video slow to load or blank in the editor?
Which computers does Tella support?
You can use Tella on Mac or Windows (with the web browsers mentioned above). People have used Tella on Linux and Ubuntu in the past, but there were issues with accessing the screen, camera, and mic.

For Windows computers, we only support Windows 10 or higher. Windows 7 or below is not supported. Our Windows app (Beta) requires Windows 10 version 2004 (build 19041) or later, including Windows 11. See the full Windows app system requirements.
-
For Mac computers, our Mac app requires macOS Ventura (version 13.1 or later). You must update your macOS version to at least 13.1 to use it. See the full Mac app system requirements.
Does Tella work on phones and tablets?
Yes, in a mobile browser. There’s no Tella mobile app, but you can use Tella on phones and tablets to record quick videos, watch videos, browse your library, and copy share links.
Mobile recording uses quick mode automatically. The editor, multiple-clips mode, and desktop recording features are not available on mobile browsers. For editing, open Tella on a Mac or Windows computer. See Can I use Tella on my phone or iPad? Last modified on October 3, 2026
